Home again home again.........October 2007

After two months away we are looking forward to spending time back in the little grey house. It is so beautiful as we cross the bridge for the first time, it has open arms spread out to engulf us as if to say "fáilte arais arís".

Nora who was born in our house came to visit with her husband Tim. She along with her sisters had planted a rose bush four years ago when their mother died. She was so pleased to see it being cared for and in full bloom. It was a very special moment for us to meet her and we hope that they will return again soon.

The garden has been growing and producing in our absence. Winter leeks, sconzonera, and the caterpillers have had a feast on the sprouts. Beetroot and carrots can soon be lifted and stored.

It's time to sow garlic, we brought a couple of varities back from France, and some chrysanthemums for colour.

It's time for planting this time a brambly apple.

New arrivals,

Early and late varities of raspberries and a new spade to plant them

We head off again this time for music at the Seamus Ennis Festival in the Naul. Check out here on the "pub" page for updates

The little grey thing has been promised eyes for some time now, "today is the day."

We brought soil from the back yard to build a bed for the herb garden. We laid a slab path from the back of the house to the pump house and planted the raspberries to one side and it's herbs to the other for ease of access for all

As we leave for a ceilí in Dublin the water levels are rising at the bottom of our garden, the river is preparing to burst it's bank. The lane is already sodden.
